My Voice Project
Through the Tuwalinde Watoto Project, SAWA strengthens formal and informal child protection systems by training community structures and improving referral pathways for children who need support. The My Voice initiative uses a child-friendly accountability approach through Children’s Rights Clubs in schools. So far, 20 clubs have been established, creating safe spaces where children can learn about their rights, express themselves and advocate for change.
Through these efforts, the project has reached over 5,000 children and peers with child rights awareness, while also strengthening reporting and response systems, with 570 child protection cases successfully referred to One-stop Centres for further support and services.
